Josh wins the Middleweight World Championship Title in Tai Chi Chuan Push Hands (Fixed Step) and the Middleweight (under 80 kilos) World Co-Champion in Tai Chi Chuan Push Hands (Moving Step) after competing in the 7th Chung Hwa Cup International Tai Chi Chuan Championships in Taiwan December 5th of 2004.

On August 15 Josh headed to the U.S. Wushu Union Nationals in Pittsburgh. He competed in middle/heavyweight Restricted and Moving step Push Hands divisions and took home the Golds.

On August 10, 2004 Josh’s new computer chess program, Chessmaster 10th Edition, hit stores around the world. July 23-25, 2004
Over the weekend of July 23-25 Josh went to Baltimore and won Middleweight Gold in the 2004 USCKF U.S. International Kuoshu Championship.

July 2-4, 2004
Josh traveled to Orlando July 2-4 to compete in the Tai Chi Chuan Push Hands National Championships. Josh competed in 8 divisions of Fixed Step, Restricted Step, and Moving Step Push Hands in the Middleweight (under 170 pounds), Light Heavy weight (under 185 pounds), Heavyweight (under 200 pounds), and Super Heavyweight divisions. After a grueling day of competition, Josh won 5 gold medals and 3 silver medals, only taking second place to 265 pound Super Heavyweight World Champion Stephen Watson.

November 2003
Leaving New York City on November 4, Josh went on an intense 7-day trip to Sao Paolo, Brazil where he competed in the World Kuoshu Championships in Tai Chi Chuan Push Hands. Josh took Gold, winning the Middleweight Push Hands division for the United States.

October 2003
For the 5th straight year Josh traveled to Memphis, TN to visit his friend Jonathan Wade, and to raise money for the fight against Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. Josh gave a seminar on the learning process and the psychology of competition, met hundreds of children, gave a simultaneous chess exhibition, and hosted a fund raising banquet. Josh also traveled to Lawrence, Kansas to host the 2nd Annual Josh Waitzkin Chess Classic. Josh gave a seminar on the learning process, signed autographs, and capped off the event with a 25 board simultaneous chess exhibition.

August 2003
Josh successfully defended his National Championship title in Tai Chi Chuan Push Hands this month in Pittsburgh, PA. Josh won Gold medals in the Middleweight Restricted Step and in the Moving Step Push Hands divisions of the US Wushu Union National Championships. Josh also won a Silver medal in the Super Heavyweight division of the tournament, losing an intense match in the finals to the current Super Heavyweight World Champion, Stephen Watson.
